High five again! DCDC bags 5 Safety Excellence Awards for 3rd straight year
It’s another high five for safety for DCDC. For the third straight year, DCDC got five safety excellence awards for achieving zero accidents in its projects during the 5th Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) National Annual Convention and General Assembly at the Bayfront Hotel, Cebu on June 5-7, 2019.
DCDC received the Safety Excellence Awards for achieving zero accidents in its following projects–DCDC corporate office and yard, ACE Medical Center Bohol, ACE Medical Center Cebu, ACE Medical Center Dumaguete and Mesaverte Residences Cagayan de Oro.
DCDC Corporate Office and Yards tallied 4.7 million safe manhours, Mesaverte Residences Project totaled 3.1 million, while ACE Medical Center Dumaguete had 3 million safe manhours. ACE Medical Center-Cebu had 2.4 million and ACE Medical Center-Bohol tallied 2.1 million manhours without an accident.
The event was organized by the Workplace Advocates on Safety in the Philippines Inc. (WASPI) and was graced by at least 200 Safety Managers, Safety Practitioners and OSH consultants all over the country. Atty. Ana C Dione, the Department of Labor and Employment undersecretary, was the guest of honor. In her speech, she commended the Cebu Contractors Association (CCA) for producing a Safety Music Video to promote awareness on safety in construction sites and work areas. The music video project was spearheaded by DCDC.
The awards were presented by Atty. Brenda L. Villafuerte and were received by DCDC representatives Atty. Raymond L. Bertulfo, CPA (Management Representative), Ms. Leslie Eileen M. Ostrea (Management Representative Deputy), Engr. Nelson Alicarte (Project Manager and Safety Practitioner) and Cebu Landmasters Inc. Representtive Engr. Pedrito A. Capistrano Jr. (Vice President for Engineering) and Edrian Owatan, in behalf of ACE Medical Center representative Dr. Luisito Co (Vice President, ACE Medical Center Inc. Cebu),
These awards would not be possible without the collective effort of DCDC’s safety officers and members of the EHS teams of each respective project. And as a nod to their efforts, Certificates of Recognition were also given to the DCDC Central EHS Team and to the awarded projects EHS teams in recognition of the collective efforts to ensure that safety is strictly implemented.
